What should be understood by food traceability?

Food traceability refers to the part of systems that track the path of food throughout the food supply chain, including production, processing and distribution. This allows an item to be accurately located at any time. This food traceability is important for a lot of reasons.

Public safety -If a health risk occurs with a food product, it is very important that the competent authorities and companies are able to identify the source of the problem. This is the only way to prevent the harmful products from continuing to be sold to customers. Food traceability thus ensures that the negative impact on trade is only minimal, thanks to targeted product recalls and by informing consumers more accurately. Using a serial or batch number, contaminated items can be quickly identified and located. An effective traceability system also makes it possible to monitor the entire food supply chain to discover where the problem originated.

Prevention – We want to keep our Online Expo Center platform safe and heathy for buyer, sellers and end consumers by identifying the source of the problem, future damage can be prevented. Food track & tracing system – Since food traceability is so important, the related process must be accurate and complete. A food traceability Track & Trace system must always be able to indicate exactly where a product or its ingredients were produced, packaged and stored.

Labeling – Moreover, a Track & Trace system for food traceability must include certain information, such as Raw Materials, Additives, Ingredients, Volume, Quantity, Weight and Dimensions, Expiration Date or a Best Before Date.

Producers must mark their products with unique identifiers that contain the above information.

Additional requirements – In certain food sectors, such as beef, seafood, honey or olive oil apply Additional requirements These should help consumers check the authenticity and origin of products. In addition, there are unique regulations regarding the tracing of genetically modified organisms (GMO). This should ensure that the extent of this modification can always be traced. There must be accurate labeling so that consumers can make informed choices about whether or not to buy a GM product.
